The Tidal Studies Quarterly Reading Group returns with an online session that prepares us for this year’s edition of Tidal Gatherings, a two-day event featuring a new performance and workshop by artist and soil researcher Lina Bravo Mora (10 & 11 October, save the date!)

Embracing Breakdown – Soil Ecopoethics and the Ambivalences of Remediation by scholar and professor Maria Puig de la Bellacasa departs from the soil to open up imaginaries of matter degradation and recirculation as a way to rebalance myths of “generation, productivity, and excess in a finite Earth.” 

Within the scope of Tidal Gatherings, this line of research invites us to consider the cyclical entanglements between water, tides, mud and soil formation.
